Old Laundry Site Planning Application

Old Laundry Site
A new planning application has been submitted for the old Spring Grove Laundry site that runs next to Shepherd's Bush market (the laundry itself closed in 2009).

You can't see the site easily from the street, but if you take the train from Shepherd's Bush Market Tube Station to Hammersmith - you can get a pretty good view.

The last proposal to make use of this under-utilised land got shot down by the Council (again), when they refused planning permission earlier this year.

The site has a long and sorry history of planning: following years of litigation the developers of Shepherd's Bush Market were forced to abandon their development plans when the Supreme Court ruled that the project could no longer go ahead, largely due to a technical failure in the process: the Minster for Housing, Eric Pickles, hadn't filled in his forms correctly.

The new plans can be seen here, and are described as "temporary use of the site and existing shipping containers for a period of up to 2 years as a creative affordable workspace centre"

Also included in the plans are "an outdoor events space at ground floor level", "hard and soft landscaping", and a "new pedestrian access route from Goldhawk Road".

If you'd like to comment on the plans, you can find them here.
