Heathrow - Last Chance to Stop the Third Runway

Theresa May's government, if re-elected (as seems likely), supports the Davis Report recommendation of a new North West runway at Heathrow.

The Third Runway will result in many new flight paths and, for the first time, Shepherd's Bush, Askew Road, Ravenscourt Park and Chiswick will be affected.

What will this mean? In short, a dramatic increase in noise levels, with aircraft directly overhead every 90 seconds from approximately 5.30am to 11.30pm.

So the question for residents of Shepherd's Bush is, can the Third Runway still be stopped?

Heathrow Gets the Green Light - Bad News for Shepherd's Bush?

The new face of Shepherd's Bush? Wikimedia
Heathrow's new runway has been given the green light by the Government, despite strong opposition, including from Hammersmith MP Andy Slaughter.

The new runway's flight path will likely lie directly above Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith. That's very bad news for pretty much everyone in our neighbourhood.

Former Hammersmith Society Chair Launches Clean Air Petition

London Fog - how it used to be
Rosemary Pettit, former chair of the Hammersmith Society, has launched a petition to clean up London's air. The petition is titled: "Mayor of London: Clean Up London's Air", and aims to persuade whoever wins in the May elections to prioritise the improvement of air quality in London.

Rosemary was appointed by our Council to be chair of the the Hammersmith & Fulham Commission on Air Quality last year.  Her position is non-political and she takes no position on who should win in May.
