So, rather than landfill that faulty printer, toaster or desklamp, you can take it down to King St on a Sunday afternoon while your local Mr Fixit takes it apart and gives it a new lease of life - completely free.
You will find the LBHF "repair party" opposite the new IKEA on the King St mall, near Sainsburys.

Recycling Electricals
When I was a child growing up in Notting Hill Gate we didn't toss faulty electricals in the bin, we took them round the corner to Harper on Elgin Crescent, where two grumpy old men would fix it for you, unsmilingly but very efficiently. Mr Harper has long since retired, and appliance repair shops like his have all but disappeared. So to keep our stuff out of landfill, LBHF is trying to revive the process of saving old electrical goods by hosting monthly "repair parties".
Toaster Resurrection
I went to the repair party a couple of Sundays ago with a broken toaster, plus the damaged part which I ordered online from Dualit. The repair took about 20 minutes, after which I brought it home, good as new.
