LBHF install LampPost Charging Points

In an imaginative move to make it easier to charge electric cars, our council have installed "LampPost Charging Points" at various points in the Borough. The idea is to take an existing supply of electricity - a street light - and make it available to owners of electric cars.

Since very few residents in our borough have garages where cars can be parked and charged overnight, this offers a unique opportunity to charge your electric car on the street.

It's an imaginative solution to the problem of how to charge cars in a borough chiefly composed of Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing.

Lamppost Column Charging Points
The lamppost column charging points were installed by a company called Ubitricity in various points in the borough. These were originally installed on a trial basis but have proved popular, so LBHF installed another 70 of them earlier this spring.

Some of the benefits of lamppost charging points include: less clutter by using existing 'street furniture' - No new columns,  no need for dedicated parking bays (so no loss of parking space).

Lampost charging points use the existing electricity supply and pre-existing network, and offer drivers more chance of being able to charge near your home.

We might also add that the electricity is free.

Get your own charging point
Fancy having a lamppost column charging point outside or near your home? LBHF say they will consider all locations.

Just fill in their lamppost charging point request form, and you could have one too.
