Re-Re-Revised Walkabout Plans

New building viewed from the north side of Shepherd's Bush Green
Dorsett Hospitality International, the group who renovated the old Shepherd's Bush Pavilion and have turned it into a successful upscale hotel, have unveiled re-re-revised proposals for the old Walkabout pub, formerly the Shepherd's Bush Cinematograph theatre

The fresh drawings have taken into account community feedback and aim to make the new building fit better into the context of the existing Dorsett hotel.

Dorsett are hoping to get some last-minute feedback before applying for formal planning permission.

The Hammersmith Society, guardians of good architecture in our borough, had this to day about the new Walkabout plans: "The scheme is being developed along lines which we can support. The overall bulk and internal organisation of the proposal remains much as we had seen previously. The front elevation onto Shepherd’s Bush Green is now much improved with the form of the cinema being returned to how it was in the mid 1920s, based upon new photographic evidence."

  1. Hopefully, they know what they are doing this time as well as the new owner will increase the surveillance as Rockwood Place is still quite dangerous at night.

    Keep fingers crossed

  2. I have lived in Pennard Road for many years (seen a few movies at the location in question). This new building will make an impressive, interesting and a welcome addition to the Green. I like it!

  3. Always difficult to know the true realistic view from drawings like this but what I see seems in character and sympathetic with surronded buildings at this historical corner of the bush. A small pocket garden in front would be a superb added addition and giving something back to the area for the added floor height and decreased natural light for the street behind.
