Woody's "Woodisms" Become Lockdown Art

Woody is eight years old, lives in Shepherd's Bush and attends the same school as my own children. He is a little bit different from the other kids; he has autism, and today, Woody's unique way of viewing the world has led to a new line of Lockdown art, including greetings cards, which feature Woody's unique take on life under Lockdown. Free SEN art class at Kite Studios Shepherd’s Bush

Kite Studios in Shepherd's Bush is an arts centre with a progressive focus on kids with special eduation needs, or "SEN". 

Kite Studios runs a SEN art class on Thursdays at 4.30pm at their Askew Road home.  

The course is for learners between the ages of 8 and 16, and Kite Studios are offering parents a free "taster" class, to try before you buy.

Westfield Launches "Quiet Time" on Saturday Mornings

Westfield - quiet on Saturday mornings

Westfield, my local corner shop, has confirmed that, after a successful initial trial period, they will be continuing with a "quiet time" on Saturday mornings between 9 - 11am.

During this time, Westfield  will turn off the music in the mall, and the kid's mall, and they will encourage shops to do the same. 

This is very good news for parents with children with special needs, since children with asd (for example) can suffer sensory overload from loud music.  

But it's also good news for neurotypical folks - not everyone likes loud music when they go shopping.  Well done Westfield for being responsive and adaptive.
