Eating Out in Shepherd's Bush - The Time Out Guide

Time Out in Shepherd's Bush
Where should you go to eat out in Shepherd's Bush? Here is what The Time Out Guide to Shepherd's Bush has to say about our neighbourhood: "The vibe in Shepherd's Bush? Hectic! With its Overground and underground stations, a spaghetti-like road network, its old-school street market and the behemoth Westfield shopping centre, the Bush is bustling day and night. Its biggest selling point is that it's home to great music venues like the Shepherd's Bush Empire and Bush Hall, original theatre courtesy of the Bush Theatre, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants from all over the world." Amen to that. If you're not eating well in Shepherd's Bush, you're not trying hard enough. So what and where does Time Out recommend?

Above are four of their top picks. The Patio restaurant on the side side of The Green, which serves up Polish soul food in big quantities at absurdly low prices, all washed down with plenty of vodka. Next up is my personal favourite, Abu Zaad, a family-run Syrian restaurant which dishes up all your Mediterranean favourites, and only slightly lets the side down by refusing to serve (or permit) alcohol.  But hey, their house, their rules.

Tian Fu on the Goldhawk Rd
Next on the  list is Sufi, which I haven't yet tried, and Tian Fu, which has two addresses in the Bush, one on Bulwer Street and Wood Lane, and the other a slightly unprepossessing shop front on the Goldhawk road. The one on Bulwer st is the only one I have tried, and it is excellent.

Time Out also recommend a number of local pubs and bars (see below).

The Princess Victoria on Uxbridge Road is a first rate gastropub, a big, beautiful high Victorian building with a large open bar and a posher dining hall at the back. The Queen Adelaide and the Brewdog I haven't tried, but the Albertine on Wood Lane is a lovely wine bar, with a seriously impressive and extensive wine list. The owner is famously grumpy but he knows his stuff and will happily advise you on what to drink. The food is a bit disappointing, but the cheese and charcuterie boards are excellent.
