What About a Lido for Shepherd's Bush?

Shepherd's Bush film-maker Eddie Morgan has an idea for improving life in our neighbourhood - a Lido.  

Lidos are - so says the Guardian - experiencing a revival in the UK, so why can't we have one in Shepherd's Bush? 

A Big Idea

"What do fellow Shepherds Bush residents make of this idea: a big, beautiful, clean, safe, well-maintained public lido - open-all year round. A pipe-dream? Maybe.... But they have one in Brockwell park and Tooting Bec, London Fields and Parliament Hill.

I know a lido is a long shot. But imagine the benefits to physical and mental health, fitness, fun and community vibe? if anyone wants to join me in thinking the un-thinkable, come on board!  Our immediate area might not have the right space - though Shepherds Bush Green could do with a big new idea? 

Possible other locations within a 15 minute bike ride include Wormwood Scrubs (200 acres) and Gunnersbury Park (180 acres). What about the massive playing fields and grim deserted bandstand near Barnes bridge? Or White City park? Ravenscourt park? Wormholt park? Wendell park? Trinity Way park? Acton Park?

Location and funding 

Location and funding: these are the two key questions. Covid has shaken up how we think of High Streets, parks, work spaces and public places.  We can find a space but can we find the money? And can we find the will?

According to a recent piece in The Guardian, the UK experiencing a "Lido Revival". Can we do the same in Shepherd's Bush?"
