Spot the real Mr Twit |
On World Book Day, every child in full-time education is given a voucher to be spent on books; the event was first celebrated in the UK in 1995.
Local primary school St Stephen's Head Teacher Michael Schumm got into the spirit, leading the dressing-up as a very plausible Mr Twit from Roald Dahl's classic children's tale "The Twits".
Other teachers dressed as Captain Hook, Peter Pan, and local children dressed up as all sorts of book characters including Mrs Wobble and Minnie the Minx.
World Book Day
World Book Day also explains the sudden appearance of the mysterious yellow post on the Uxbridge Rd. The Royal Mail is a supporter of the charity, and is helping to promote the event.

St Stephen's
Visit a classroom at St Stephen's and you will see happy children eager to learn, in an environment that feels both challenging (expectations are high) but also supportive and nurturing. Parents are encouraged to get involved, and also to contribute financially through FOSS - Friends of St Stephen's.
