Worst Time of Day to Get Tickets
Perhaps surprisingly, 3-4pm and 7-8pm are the most likely times to get a ticket, with the 7-8pm slot being a particular problem for residents parking tickets.

Top 5 Parking Ticket Hotspots in Shepherds Bush
- MacFarlane Road (5,082 Tkts/Yr). The residents parking in MacFarlane Road (next door to Westfield) operates up to 10pm and it appears that is catching a lot of people out. Nearly 40% of the tickets issued here are after 7pm. Make sure you always check the signs for what time the restrictions end.
- Wood Lane nr A40 (4,857 Tkts/Yr) The tickets here are split between ones for being in a bus lane and ones for making a right turn or U turn when prohibited. There are bus lanes both north and south of the A40 and even through it might be tempting to slip past the traffic through them, it is quite risky. Also, you cannot turn right onto the A40, but doing a U-turn up the road is risky too. This applies if you are driving both North or South on Wood Lane under the A40.
- Uxbridge Road nr 25yds West of Holland Pk Roundabout (4,430 Tkts/Yr). The yellow box junction on the Uxbridge Road just before you approach Holland Park Roundabout lets the buses out from the Westfield Centre Bus Station. 12 tickets a day here means you should make sure you will be able to clear the junction completely before you drive onto it. The traffic lights at the roundabout can mean you can get stuck behind a vehicle if you are not careful.
- Pennard Road (1,843 Tkts/Yr) Over 75% of the tickets here are issued in the evening between 6pm and 10pm. With 37% of them issued in the single hour at 7pm. It would not be a surprise if many people just cannot understand the confusing signs showing the restrictions on this road. The road is pay and display up until 6:30pm, but after that time only residents are permitted to park until 8pm. So, having a paid for a ticket will not help. Many more are being caught after 8pm because they have not read the signs showing that pay and display is needed until 10pm.
- Bulwer Street (1,773 Tkts/Yr) Like Pennard Road, 68% of tickets are issued 6pm to 10pm with 34% issued 7-8pm. Again, this road uses the same signs and has restrictions up to 10pm.
- Uxbridge Road (1,573 Tkts/Yr) Most of the tickets issued along Uxbridge Road are split between ones for parking on a restricted street and loading when not permitted. There is a particularly large spike in tickets for loading when not permitted at 4-5pm. This looks like delivery drivers getting caught trying to drop off or pick up at the end of the day.

In Hopgood St, where I live, 440 tickets were issued last year. That might not sound like much, but it's a very small street, with very few spaces. A quarter of tickets are issued on Sundays, when drivers think they can park for free (they can't), and many tickets are issued after 6pm when people think the restrictions end (they don't). The moral of the story: read the parking signs carefully.
