Albertine Wine Bar to Close 18 March

The Albertine bids farewell to Shepherd's Bush
Sad news for Shepherd's Bush, our local and much-loved wine bar The Albertine is closing, forced out of business by Covid-19, Lockdown, and the general business climate.

The last two years have been hard on anyone in the hospitality industry, struggling to stay afloat in spite of Lockdown restrictions.

Below is Allegra's farewell message.

"Dear Friends, Regulars and Loyal Customers,

As you’ve probably heard by now Albertine is closing her doors at 1 Wood Lane permanently at the end of next week.

Paul, Rob & I have been proud caretakers of this iconic local Wine bar, but unfortunately the extraordinary challenges of the last few years along with some site-specific issues mean that as Directors it would be irresponsible for us to carry on into another spring/summer, traditionally our weakest trading months.

So Friday 18th will be our last full service, and on Saturday 19th 11am-5pm we’re holding an Everything Must Go Sale where if you’d like one of our famous church chairs or some glasses/kitchenware or some great books for your shelves then please do pop by.

That evening we’ve closed the bookings and will be doing a pared down service as we’re not sure what we’ll have left in the building, but you’re more than welcome to come in for a last drink.

Excitingly though, we have some fresh investment and are currently looking for a new site to reopen sometime in the not too distant future. We’ve tweaked the concept a little to reflect how the pandemic has altered the way people shop and socialise, whilst maintaining the vibe and soul of Albertine, so keep an eye out for updates on social media.

But for now Albertine is taking a well-earned rest at the grand old age of 44, and although I’m personally saddened to my core that I couldn’t keep the bar afloat that my mum set up and I first walked into when I was 7 years old, I know we gave it our absolutely best shot and sometimes you just have to call it a day.

Do pop in any time next week to raise one last glass to this grand old lady of Shepherd’s Bush and take a little bit of local history home with you.

So, Ladies, Gents and all in-between: a massive heartfelt thank-you for all your kind patronage, support and wonderful memories over the years.

But for now, it’s Time Please.

Allegra, Rob & Paul xxx
