The new owners are the Three Cheers Pub Co, who have made a significant investment in freshening the place up, with plenty of fresh paint, new pictures on the walls, and a general facelift.

The best part is that the changes are largely cosmetic, and the heart and soul of the old place remains refreshingly intact. After all, there wasn't a lot wrong with the old Princess Victoria; it was pretty close to being a perfect pub. At last week's "Grand Launch", the food was generally delicious, and the menu hasn't changed a lot. The ham hock croquettes were excellent, the pizza was yummy and the fish and chips were close to perfect.
Packed out with West London foodie types and assorted almost-celebrities, the crowd was good-natured and friendly. But then, that's always been the case. The Princess Victoria is the kind of place you can take your kids, your Mum, your friends, and bump into all sorts of people you didn't expect to meet, from long-lost university pals to the local vicar. It's one of those places that seems effortlessly to create a good atmosphere, full of easy-going people having a good time.
