Westfield Latest: John Lewis to Open Early 2018

John Lewis - opening early next year.
John Lewis is coming to Shepherd's Bush. The new seven storey department store will open early next year, and will soon begin to recruit staff - bringing further jobs and investment to our neighbourhood.

The new roles at the store are to start in February or March 2018.

John Lewis has also submitted a Licensing application for its various restaurants and bars, which you can find here.

Look at the picture above and you can see how it is all supposed to turn out. The historic DIMCO buildings - currently a bus shelter - will be preserved (you can see them top right) and a new pedestrian open space will be created, with the railway arches under the Hammersmith & City line being opened up to boutique shops and cafes. The drawing below is also useful.

There is also supposed to be a new public park straddling the arches underneath the Tube line, but this seems to be shrinking over time. According to the map below, which shows how pedestrians will move through the newly expanded Westfield, the new park is to be called "White City Green".

Another area of open space in front of John Lewis is to be called Relay Square. Below is a 3D render of how it is supposed to look.

This northern expansion of Westfield will most likely make Westfield the largest shopping centre in the UK.

It seems that Primark, a new Pret-a-Manger, Asics, All Star Bowling and Sainsbury's Local will be also be joining the new Westfield extension.

From early next year, it will be hard to think of things you can't buy at Westfield.
