Fire in Macfarlane Rd

Fire at 7 Macfarlane Rd
A fire broke out early this morning in Macfarlane Rd, with the various emergency services swiftly responding to the blaze.

What caused the fire? According to the firefighters, it was builders' debris piled up outside the house, which somehow caught fire.

Clearly, builders' rubble doesn't spontaneously ignite, especially on cold damp winter mornings. Presumably someone decided to help it along.

It must have been terrifying for the neighbours, wondering if their own house might catch fire, unable to do anything except wait for the fire fighters to arrive.

Fortunately the fire was quickly extinguished,  and no-one seems to have been injured. But a fire like this is a reminder that those piles of rubbish you see outside your neighbour's house while they have got the builders in are not at all safe. They are in fact a potential fire, waiting to be ignited.
